Drawing on data from 323 solar sites across the country collected between 2022-2025 the annual Solar Habitat series is the UK’s most comprehensive, ongoing, ecological study of solar farms, offering new, evidence backed, insight into how solar energy and nature can thrive side by side. Solar Habitat 2026 will be the fourth annual issue of the report and adds a further 75 site surveys to the data, reinforcing our understanding of the positive impact of well managed solar farms on biodiversity.
The findings support best practices for ecological monitoring and land management, emphasising that solar farms can function as valuable habitats while contributing to renewable energy goals.
