The Clean Flexibility Roadmap is a positive step towards modernising the UK’s electricity supply, says the UK’s solar industry. The 84-page report was launched today by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, NESO and Ofgem.[1]
“Solar Energy UK welcomes the new Clean Flexibility Roadmap. The vast majority of new residential solar energy systems are now fitted with battery energy storage, maximising their financial benefits, while grid-scale systems are often built alongside solar farms. We also expect long-duration battery technologies to play an increasing role in the coming years,” said Gemma Grimes, Director of Policy and Delivery at Solar Energy UK.
“Everyone wins from storing energy at all scales. Gathering renewable energy at its cheapest and most abundant means lower bills and less need for new infrastructure, too.
We also look forward to responding to the consultation on encouraging consumer-led flexibility, and the call for evidence on supporting more effective use of existing storage assets,” she added.
