Solar Energy UK extends our warm congratulations to Ed Morello, newly-elected Liberal Democrat MP for West Dorset.
Most recently, Ed has been managing director (UK & Ireland) for Powen, one of Europe’s leading providers of on-site renewables backed by power purchase agreements – helping businesses benefit from solar photovoltaic energy without capital outlay.
He was previously Commercial Director for Zestec, a solar developer and asset management company that is now a branch of Octopus Energy Group.
“It is gratifying to know that someone with such experience in the solar industry is now on the Commons benches. I have no doubt that Ed will make a valuable contribution to the House in his new role and help push the UK further towards decarbonised power,” said Solar Energy UK Chief Executive Chris Hewett.
Solar Energy UK also welcomes Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP’s return to helming the UK’s energy and climate policies, as Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. We look forward to working with him, particularly to secure the urgent publication of the Solar Taskforce’s Solar Roadmap.
In an announcement yesterday, he confirmed that his top priority is to deliver energy independence and cut bills through generating more clean energy.
