Energy & Utility Skills and Solar Energy UK collaborate for industry-wide success

Energy & Utility Skills and Solar Energy UK

10 June 2025

Energy & Utility Skills and Solar Energy UK announce a strategic partnership, recognising the importance of developing and retaining a skilled, competent and diverse workforce within the solar and energy storage industry. This is crucial to achieving the governments’ aim of tripling UK solar capacity by 2030, tackling climate change, improving energy security and reducing energy bills.

Together, the organisations will identify the skills and workforce issues facing the solar and energy storage industry and its supply chains and take strategic action to address them.

Sharing knowledge, information, and where appropriate, relevant outputs from strategic governance forums, gained in collaboration with members and sector stakeholders, will contribute to influencing UK national, local and devolved governments, and other sector stakeholders, to ensure that the needs and priorities of the solar and energy storage industry are reflected in policy making.

Paul Cox, Group Chief Executive of Energy & Utility Skills, said, “I am delighted to share our collaboration with Solar Energy UK, aligning with our values of working together and sharing credible sector intelligence. Utilising our data and insights, skills and expertise, together we will influence positive outcomes for the sector, providing opportunities for employers and the wider workforce. This will ensure that people can gain the skills they need to access good, sustainable careers in this industry.”

Chris Hewett, Chief Executive of Solar Energy UK, said, “I very much look forward to working alongside Energy & Utility Skills. The solar and energy storage workforce must be both considerably larger and grow its skills base to decarbonise the electricity supply and cut utility bills in line with Government objectives. That’s why this partnership is so critical for the industry’s future.”
