More speakers confirmed for Co-Location, Co-Location, Co-Location!

An impressive lineup of speakers has been revealed for Solar Energy UK’s conference on co-locating battery energy storage and solar installations, including Chris Stark OBE, the Government’s Head of Mission Control for Clean Power at DESNZ.

As the UK continues to undergo major connections reform, co-located solar and storage projects have been particularly affected by challenges such as differing treatment of technologies and misaligned timelines. At the same time, these projects represent a major opportunity to support national ambitions by making more efficient use of existing network capacity, reducing constraints and improving overall system flexibility.

That is why influential voices across government, industry, investors and infrastructure will gather to examine the real-world commercial, regulatory and operational considerations shaping the sector on Tuesday 14 July at Pinsent Masons, 30 Earl Street, London.

The programme will begin at 1pm, with keynote presentations and panel discussions running through to 5pm, followed by a networking reception from 5pm onwards.

In conversation with Chris Stark

Chris Stark CBE, Head of Mission Control for Clean Power at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, will sit with Solar Energy UK Chief Executive Chris Hewett, for a 70-minute discussion outlining the role of solar power, storage, co-location, system flexibility and grid reform in delivering Clean Power 2030.

Panel 1: Enabling co-located projects through connections reform and system planning

The first panel will explore the current state of play for co-located projects within the reformed connections landscape. It will examine the complexities of the connections process, interactions with spatial energy planning and the evolving use cases of hybrid versus co-located assets, alongside the practical implications of system reform for developers, networks and policymakers.

Panel 2: Revenue stacking, investment certainty, and market reform

The second panel will examine the economic benefits of co-location, including the more efficient use of grid capacity, reduced curtailment risk, and enhanced project resilience in a changing market environment.
