Introducing Electricity Markets for New Starters in the Solar & Storage Sector

This learning and development session is designed for new starters in the solar and storage industry. The two-hour session, delivered by respected consultancy firm Cornwall Insight, provides an overview of the key elements of the electricity sector, such as the changing generation mix and where solar and storage sit within this now and into the future, how electricity networks are charged for to distribute electricity from solar and storage assets to end consumers, and the role of government and the energy markets regulator to deliver net zero targets and fair outcomes for energy consumers. The session is a mix of lecture-style learning, solar and storage case studies and worked examples to reinforce learning.

This two-hour workshop, delivered by respected consultancy firm Cornwall Insight, will explain how Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (CPPAs) provide a route to market for solar and storage developers. The sessions will describe the key features of CPPAs, including typical risk sharing and pricing terms, and the latest view on which entities are seeking CPPAs to secure themselves renewable electricity. The session will also discuss the concept of additionality that is being sought by many corporates. The session is a mix of lecture-style learning, solar and storage case studies and worked examples to reinforce learning. Time is set aside for questions and discussions.

Commercial Considerations of New Electricity Network Charging Arrangements

This two-hour workshop, delivered by respected consultancy firm Cornwall Insight, will describe the changing landscape for how solar and storage assets face electricity network charges and how network access conditions are changing as a result of Ofgem’s review. The workshop will explain the principles and impacts of new electricity transmission and distribution charging arrangements and the timelines for the completion of the reform programme.  Case studies and worked examples will be used to illustrate how the new arrangements will change the charges faced by solar and storage assets depending on connection location (voltage and geographical). Time is set aside for questions and discussions.
