Conference launches to drive Scotland’s solar future Solar Energy Scotland

Solar Energy Scotland
21 August 2025

Join us this November in Edinburgh for The Future of Solar & Storage in Scotland 2025, Scotland’s premier event dedicated to advancing solar energy and energy storage solutions.

Hosted by Solar Energy Scotland at the COSLA Conference Centre in Haymarket, Edinburgh, on 11 November, this will be first event of its kind. The Future for Solar & Storage in Scotland 2025 will bring together industry leaders, innovators, policymakers and investors to explore the pivotal role solar and storage will play in achieving Scotland’s net zero ambitions.

The Scottish Government has expressed an intention to set a goal of reaching 4-6 gigawatts of solar generation capacity by the end of the decade, set to be confirmed in the forthcoming Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan. Its 2023 draft noted “significant appetite” for greater deployment, adding that, “Scotland is a great place for solar” and that it “has an important role to play in decarbonising our energy system,” and cutting domestic and commercial energy bills.[1]

“We know that growing solar and storage has support of Holyrood, though significant barriers still need to be overcome for the sectors to reach their potential. To better understand their impact and contribute to how they can be overcome, I urge you to attend our inaugural conference this November,” said Josh King, Chair of Solar Energy Scotland.

With a packed agenda featuring keynote speeches, expert panels and networking opportunities, the conference is the ideal platform for sponsors and exhibitors to showcase their expertise, connect with key decision makers and align their brand with the future of clean energy.

The Future for Solar & Storage in Scotland 2025 is expected to feature:

  • The Global Solar Council, SolarPower Europe and Solar Energy Scotland will discuss the policy asks ahead of the 2026 election, placing them in a wider European and global context.
  • Representatives from Stirling and Edinburgh councils, alongside others will explore a range of approaches to the design and delivery of solar and storage schemes. This session provides an opportunity to hear about projects at every level: community, municipal, commercial and utility scale
  • In the third session, grid access, the connection processes, capacity limits and affordability will be considered by the National Energy System Operator, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, SP Energy Networks and Roadnight Taylor.
  • Biggar Economics, Optimat and Orbital Communications will consider the benefits of solar and battery storage beyond lower bills and greener power, including economic growth, training and employment, supply chain opportunities, biodiversity improvements and energy security. This final session will also address common misconceptions about the technologies.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of shaping the next chapter of Scotland’s energy transition!
